Boolean Totem

Isaac Michan

The study of a figurative column made out of concrete, a piece designed for the League Prize exhibition of Architectural League of New York. At Rokam we had the opportunity to develop and produce the Boolean Totem piece, a non-scale object, no function defined with the intention of having multiple readings by different people, exploring shapes, eliminating volumes and studying different perspectives.

Michan Architecture is a studio based in Mexico City founded in 2010, where they are able to explore new possibilities, giving shapes to the environments built. Directed by Isaac Michan Daniel, Bachelor of Architecture Studies from the Universidad Iberoamericana, with a master’s degree in Architecture Science from Pratt Institute. He pursues architecture as a material practice by contrasting local craftsmanship with digital and analogue thinking, seeking to generate a balance between the familiar and the strange.
